In front of a sizeable crowd, Matthew Asciak clinched the British Airways Marsa Open singles title last weekend, beating Mattia Pecotic in straight sets in the final.
Asciak won a close first set 6-4. In the second set, Pecotic upped his game but committed several double faults in the process as Malta champion Asciak went on to wrap up the final with another 6-4 scoreline in his favour.
In the doubles final, Asciak and Pecotic had the better of Delicata brothers, Marcus and Daryl, to win the title.
The presentation of prizes at the Marsa Sports Club was conducted by James Stagno Navarra, Area Sales Manager for British Airways, Marsa Sports Club chairman Ralph Asciak, and Godwin Borg, chairman Tennis Section.
