The University of Central England (UCE), a leading university in the Midlands, Birmingham, recently organised the second International Representatives Congress at the Perry Barr Campus in Birmingham.
The congress was organised by the International Office at the university, and its aim was to talk about university services, facilities and faculties' courses.
The congress was attended by various representatives and agents from different countries. Malta was represented by Alex Borg, director, SSM Group Ltd, a local training and consultancy firm based in Hamrun with joint offices in the UK and the UAE. The University of Central England has evolved in the course of over 150 years, from its origins as a local community college to its current status as a major provider of higher education to students from across the globe.
UCE Birmingham is one of the UK's largest universities, with around 25,000 students and seven teaching sites in and around the city of Birmingham. At the heart of UCE Birmingham lies a commitment to diversity in education and creativity in the learning experience.
The University combines the virtues of a traditional British education in core subjects and skills with a spirit of innovation that embraces the challenges of modern life in a global society.
This is why the student body at UCE Birmingham is so diverse. Students of all nationalities and ages, and from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, attend UCE Birmingham. Each year, an increasing number of those students come from non-EU countries. At present there are students from over 80 countries, including the Far East, Africa, the Indian sub-continent and the EU.
UCE Birmingham houses eight faculties for different areas - School of Acting Conservatoire, Institute of Art and Design, Faculty of Education; Business School; Faculty of Health, Faculty of Law, Humanities, Development and Society; Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Technology and Engineering (Technology Innovation Centre).
SSM Group was chosen as a liaison regional office and training centre for UCE Birmingham. The regional office will provide comprehensive counselling and advice on all aspects of study in UCE Birmingham, as well as working closely with potential partners and representatives.
