Another two unexpected power cuts occurred yesterday afternoon affecting the Zebbug, Siggiewi and Qormi areas and the Burmarrad, Mosta, Qawra, Bugibba and St Paul's Bay neighbourhood, each lasting just over two hours, according to Enemalta.
The Zebbug power cut was due to damage caused to an 11kv cable inside a trench near the Marsa distribution centre.
Enemalta chairman Alexander Tranter and Enemalta engineers were on the spot minutes after the 11kv cable failed. Excavation works in the trench, where the cable fault occurred, had been carried out without Enemalta's knowledge, the corporation said.
A report was filed by Enemalta at the Qormi police station.
The power cut in Bugibba occurred when a transformer tripped at the Bugibba Distribution Centre.
As a result of the recent spate of power cuts, Enemalta said it has increased the number of personnel on stand by.
