Police seize half a kilo of cannabis resin

Half a kilo of cannabis resin was seized by the police yesterday in a raid on an apartment in Marsascala - the second drugs haul in three days.

The raid was carried out following weeks of investigation after it was suspected that an apartment in Triq is-Sliem was being used as a drug distribution point, the police said.

Members of the Drug Squad pounced late Wednesday morning and carried out a thorough search.

Apart from the cannabis resin, objects used for trafficking were found.

A 22-year-old man from Cospicua who resides in Marsascala was held for questioning. Charges are expected to be brought against him.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi appointed various experts to assist in an inquiry.

On Monday, the police raided a flat in St Paul's Bay from where they elevated 100 grammes of heroin and five grammes of cocaine which had been prepared for trafficking.

A 33-year-old man from Mosta was arrested in connection with that find.
