Jerusalem gay parade
Israeli police detained an Orthodox Jewish man carrying a small home-made bomb in Jerusalem yesterday, as demonstrators marched in support of gay rights and defied threats of violence from religious protesters.
"Police stopped a 32-year-old religious Jew who was carrying a home-made explosive device," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said of the arrest just before an annual gay pride parade.
The event ended without major incident but in all 23 people were arrested in connection with protests against the march.
About 7,000 police officers were deployed inside and around Jerusalem to protect the marchers about 2,000 of them by police estimates - after threats from religious Jews, who take exception to the event being held in a city they hold sacred.

In this day and age, anti-gay sentiments are expressed by many, usually angry young men, who have failed to sort out their lives. One might say, life's losers. They exist everywhere. They scapegoat homosexuals because they are to frightened to evaluate their own position in life. They will resolve nothing. They TRY to 'screw' homosexuals and anybody else whom they deem screwable not realising that they are screwing themselves something rotten in the process. They will not understand what I am about let alone do something about it (other than be obnoxious a little more). That is fine by me.
They use religion as an excuse. They need to sort out their personal life and its conflicts. The Jerusalem thugs are no better than the Moscow ones. Or the Maltese ones for that matter.
