New full-time courses at MCAST

Two new full-time courses will be introduced at MCAST next scholastic year, Education Minister Louis Galea said yesterday while launching the college's 2007/2008 prospectus.

The new courses are the MCAST Diploma for Dental Surgery Assistants, offered at the Community Services Institute, and the Sheet Metal and Composite Material Course, offered at the Mechanical Engineering Institute.

"This is the seventh prospectus that the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology has published since its inauguration in October 2001. Since then the College has expanded to incorporate nine institutes as well as the Gozo Centre, offering 95 different full-time courses in Malta and 14 in Gozo besides a very wide range of short-courses, including ESF courses specifically targeted at mature students.

"This year the college was once again offering a wide range of courses at different levels and was introducing new courses and higher levels in certain areas of study," Dr Galea said.

Apart from all the courses leading to a diploma, students can still opt to follow foundation courses and need no certification to do so.

Those who are interested in the courses offered at MCAST should collect a copy of the prospectus from the Information and Support Centre, MCAST Main Campus, Corradino Hill, Paola, or from any local council. One can also visit the MCAST website, www.mcast.edu.mt, for a digital copy.
