The Contracts Department has received six applications in reply to a request for information by Enemalta Corporation for a new 100 MW generating plant for the Delimara Power Station .

Another application was not accepted as it was submitted three minutes late by Wartsila Denmark AS.

The companies are Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractors AS; IDO Hutny Projekt AS and Bateman Energies BV; Socion Ingeniera & Construccion Industrial SLU; Isolux Ingineria SA; Metal Constructions of Greece (METKA) SA; and MAN Ferrostaal Power, The companies will be invited to make a technical proposal and commercial offer after they receive the technical specifications being prepared by an Enemalta technical team.

Sources said that most likely the adjudicating process will be based on the MEAT (Most Economical Advantageous Tender).

The bidder with the highest marks will be awarded the project which is on a turnkey basis with an estimated cost of €100 million, the sources said.

The programme is likely to take between 18 and 24 months to complete.
