Dolores Cristina, Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, attended a European conference on the inclusion of persons with disabilities, organised by the German EU presidency in Berlin.
The conference was particularly focused on education and employment accessibility. It is estimated that there are 650 million persons with disability worldwide, 50 million of whom live in Europe.
The priorities of the conference were based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This is the first Human Rights convention of the 21st century and has already been signed by more than 100 countries, including Malta.
