Heritage Malta is planning a concert to commemorate the 400th anniversary since Caravaggio was in Malta.

The concert, Tribute To The Master, will be given on Saturday at the heritage agency's headquarters in Bighi. The event is intended as a fundraiser for the restoration of works of so-called Caravaggisti (artists who applied Caravaggio's style and technique) such as Valentin de Boulogne, Matthias Stomer and Giulio Felice Cassar known as Cassarino.

Works by Stomer are exhibited at various museums ranging from the Hermitage, in St Petersburg, to the National Gallery in London and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.

The plan is to restore the paintings by the Caravaggisti, currently at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, and have them displayed in a better environment.

The concert will feature Claire Baluci who will sing together with two choirs, as well as projections of some of Caravaggio's masterpieces. The concert starts at 9 p.m.

Tickets are selling at Lm8 and Lm5 from www.maltaticket.com or from the Heritage Malta's head office in Merchants Street, Valletta.
