Gerard James Borg, one of Malta's popular songwriters (right), was selected by the Dr Gabriele Minz Institute to write his views about Europe from an individual perspective.

In the context of Germany's EU Presidency, the German foreign affairs department will today be presenting the cultural event Europa Der Blaue Stern.

The event, being held in the famous concert hall on the Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin, includes the personal contribution and individual thoughts of artists, writers, politicians and scientists from various countries.

The aim of this cultural event - House Europe - is to collect individual thoughts of different generations from various national backgrounds for a united Europe.

The 100 thoughts will feature in Der Tagespiegel - Berlin's daily newspaper - as entire texts or extracts in a special literary supplement, to be published today.

A selection of the contributions will also be produced as podcasts by Radio Paradiso.
