Lewis Hamilton celebrated winning the two North American races on Sunday, on circuits he had never driven on before.
"What a dream. To come into two circuits that I didn't know, first time, to really come out with such pace and see the team moving forward and being competitive. They have done a fantastic job. This wouldn't have been possible without them, and the guys here did a fantastic job. It is a perfect team and I am glad I put the icing on the cake.
"It is a great leap in my career and my life, I am thankful to my family and the guardians of the team."
Hamilton said the first few laps were close and then he managed to pull a slight gap and maintain it. In the middle stint his tyres started to grain and Alonso managed to gain on him.
"It was extremely difficult, he was in my slipstream, it was very tough but he fought very well, very professional but in the end I was able to pull a gap, maintain it and win the race," he said.
Fernando Alonso said he lost the race to Hamilton when he failed to pass him at the opening of the race.
"The start was the key point of the race. After that whoever was second was going to finish second. The start is always risky. What you don't want is to end your race on lap one. Eight points is better than nothing and we have increased the gap to Ferrari."
Ferrari's Felipe Massa said it had been difficult for him to keep up with the McLarens after the first few laps.
"Lewis was going away quite quickly and I could not push so much as I started sliding around, it was difficult for us to beat them but good to finish third."
He said he came under "a bit of pressure" from team-mate Kimi Raikkonen at the end. "He was on different tyres than me and for sure he had better grip, so he was able to close very much the gap.
"But for sure I did a good start, beat him, and managed to make a good gap there, and then we got close but it was up to the last pitstop, in the end it was good. I managed to keep car on track, not make mistakes and keep Kimi behind."
