Energy saving refunds

I am quite certain the Prime Minister is not aware of this fact.

On June 14, the Malta Resources Authority was still processing applications for energy saving refunds lodged in November 2006. My application was lodged in January and I have to wait two more months to receive my refund of Lm25.

The Prime Minister will now argue that I have to thank this Administration for introducing this incentive scheme. I would prefer if he would take an effective leadership position to ensure that the MRA introduces effective standard operating procedures to ensure that each application is processed in less than a month. I suggest that the Consumers' Association would enter into agreements with these so-called authorities to ensure that citizens are not taken for a ride. I also suggest to the Parliamentary Secretary for Finance to amend the regulations pertaining to the energy saving refunds whereby the regulations would stipulate that the citizen will receive the refund in under a month.

I fail to see what is so complex to process a four-page application when all the documents are attached to the same application.
