All over the world, the Olympic Day Run is a great moment of sport, solidarity and celebration, which thousands of people look forward to.
Once again this year, athletes all over the five continents will be celebrating in their own way the creation of the International Olympic Committee and the birth of the modern Olympic Games by taking part in a unique event which is more than just a run.
An ideal platform for highlighting the benefits of physical activity and its contribution to general well-being, the Olympic Day Run also focuses on the values of sport, their meaning and the reasons for their importance in today's world.
This year's run will take place on June 24 and will follow the same routes as last year in St Julian's, starting and finishing at Spinola Bay. Participation is free of charge.
Again, the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) are teaming up with McDonald's and the Malta Amateur Athletic Association to organise the run.
Applications are available from any of the McDonald's restaurants and through the offices of the MOC (www.nocmalta.org).
Registration will also be accepted on the day of the run at 8 a.m. The fun runs will be held over three distances, 2.5k, 5k and 10k.
As happened last year, the MOC and McDonald's will be giving out prizes for those groups in the fun runs who bring along the largest numbers in the following categories: Largest School Group, Largest Local Council Group, Largest Running Club Group, Largest Sport entity/organisation and Largest Company Group.
