Five teenage boys were yesterday put on probation after they admitted to their involvement in stealing three cars between them last year.
The boys - one aged 17, two aged 16, one 15 and the other 14 - pleaded guilty to all charges brought against them before Magistrate Doreen Clarke.
The 17-year-old was put on probation for 18 months and fined Lm25 for stealing three cars, damaging a showroom and driving without a licence or insurance cover. The other boys were all put on probation for a year for their involvement in stealing the cars. One of the 16-year-olds was also fined Lm25 for driving without a licence or insurance cover.
The two boys charged with driving illegally were banned from obtaining a driving licence for a year.
Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted. Lawyers Joe Buttigieg, Franco Debono and Anglu Farrugia represented the boys.
