The Maltese Olympic Committee contingent of athletes and officials for last week's Monaco GSSE 2007 returned to Malta yesterday to a rousing welcome by parents and friends who gathered at the airport.

Some still showed signs of weariness after six long days of competition and intense pressure. But for some others, the occasion was appropriate to show the medals won, a reward for the preparation and training undertaken ahead of the Games.

In all, Malta won 30 medals in Monaco, four of them gold. The total fell short of MOC's projections as Director of Sport Pippo Psaila, in particular, had felt confident of a better result in the Mediter-ranean Principality.

A detailed analysis of Team Malta's performance is yet to start but Psaila has already hinted he could quit his post when telling reporters on Saturday evening that he will be pondering his future at the MOC while taking a sabbatical this summer.

Psaila, the chef-de-mission in Monte Carlo, will address journalists this afternoon in a press conference called by the MOC at Tal-Qroqq.
