Local youth council

I refer to St Paul's Bay councillor Frank Gauci's letter (May 15). I would like to thank Mr Gauci for his initiative to set up the Youth Local Council in St Paul's Bay. This has helped to give us an opportunity to learn discipline, leadership and communication skills within the community.

Having worked closely with the local council, we have learnt that working for a community is not an easy task, but on the other hand if is satisfying. The youth council is giving us opportunities to attend various conferences and seminars, even in other European countries. I have already been given the opportunity to attend a five-day conference in Cologne which has widened my perspective on youth policy.

May I take the opportunity to thank and congratulate the St Paul's Bay local council, particularly Mr Gauci, chairman of the youth and sport sub-committee, for this initiative.
