The Malta Kennel Club recently held its annual general meeting, which was chaired by club president James Muscat.
During the meeting the administrative report and the financial accounts for the year ending 2007 was approved, while a new committee was elected for the forthcoming year. The Malta Kennel Club is an associate member of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI, a world canine organisation with 84 members and contract partners (one member per country), that sets breed standards, organises shows and issues its own pedigrees and train judges.
The Malta Kennel Club also held its last show of the season last month at the Cottonera Sports complex. The judge was Rafael Malo Alcrudo from Spain, an FCI-approved all breed judge. The event was sponsored by RC imports, local agents of Belcando Premium Dog Food. The Best in Show was awarded to champion Isoria Dino, an English pointer owned by Lino Micallef of San Gwann.
The club will also be sponsoring the Junior Handler at the next European show. Stacey Vella of Msida will represent Malta in the European Dog Show in Zagreb, Croatia today. Ms Vella obtained the highest points in the Junior Handler competition in 2006, organised by the Malta Kennel club.
