Your Brussels correspondent Ivan Camilleri (The Sunday Times, May 27) highlighted a joint statement by Nationalist MEPs Simon Busuttil and David Casa about the European Parliament's agreement on cheaper roaming tariffs for mobile phone calls across the EU.
The two honourable gentlemen did not give credit to the hard work put in by Labour MEP Joseph Muscat on this matter. This work was recognised by all the leading European national papers, from Le Monde to The International Herald Tribune, but not by our two Nationalist MEPs who opted for cheap partisan comments instead. It seems that three years' experience in the halls of Brussels and Strasbourg has not weaned them from local village politics.
I clearly remember both Dr Busuttil and Mr Casa paying lip service to the air of camaraderie that exists between all five Maltese MEPs. Reading their latest joint statement I got the impression that these words are as hollow as the promises made to hunters by both Dr Busuttil and Mr Casa before and after the EU referendum.
