The Lorenzo Gafà Boys' Secondary School in Vittoriosa yesterday kicked off a 51-hour billiard marathon aimed at collecting funds for the charitable foundation of the Capuchin Order, Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem.

The foundation works to provide shelter to homeless people and to persons with mental health problems.

Billiards will be played non-stop over the weekend coming to an end tomorrow at noon.

An art exhibition featuring students' work as well as a small display of student projects will also feature in this year's event.

The marathon was yesterday attended by Archbishop Paul Cremona and Dolores Cristina, Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity.
