Maltese sailors strengthened their medal chances yesterday at the Monaco Harbour.

Due to a lack of wind only one race was held but Benji Borg retained the lead in men's Laser after a third-place finish. He has three points after four races and enjoys a seven-point lead over Monaco's Emmanuel Sanchez. Simon Aquilina is fifth.

In the women's race Maya Podesta is fourth overall on 11 points and her chances of a bronze medal are still there as she trails third-placed Audrey Peraldi, of Monaco, by five points.

In Optimists, Sean Borg is currently second, trailing leader Edouard Franconeri, of Monaco, by one point. Borg was fifth in yesterday's race which was won by Thomas Zammit Tabona. The latter has now moved up to seventh overall. Gabriel Pace is fifth.

Ella Fleri Soler is second in the girls' Optimist class after winning yesterday's regatta. She trails leader Maylis Darcet, of Monaco, by four points and is one ahead of third-placed Camille Matile, of Monaco.
