Research is being carried out at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana on how to conserve plant species at risk of extinction.

Rare and endemic plants are being cultivated to maintain a library of various species. Seeds are being kept in a bank for conservation purposes. Research in relation to application in the medicinal field and on the plants' resistance to climate change is also being carried out.

Minister for the Environment George Pullicino on Monday visited the gardens as part of Environment Week activities.
