A 27-year-old man has been charged with defiling his three-year-old daughter.

Magistrate Edwina Grima, presiding over the Gozo court, heard the man plead not guilty to defiling the girl and holding her against her will on and before September 2006.

The name of the accused is not being published by court order to protect the identity of the minor.

Police Inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted.

Lawyers José Herrera, Veronique Dalli and Chris Said were defence counsel.

Lawyers Emmanuel Mallia and Justyne Caruana are representing the victim.
