St George is the official patron of many countries, towns, professions and occupations, including England and Qormi.

Some years ago the Catholic Church removed St George from the official calendar of saints on the basis that there was no real evidence for his existence - he was an icon rather than a real saint.

Now St George of Malta has become a real St George. Does this new saint now take over patronage of all the countries, towns etc. that were dedicated to the mythical St George? Does St George of Malta become the patron of the United Kingdom?
