In 1922 the emigrant ship Lapland sailed from the port of Antwerp in Belgium bound for New York. The ship arrived at Ellis Island on January 31, 1922.

Among the crew and passengers, the ship's manifest listed four young Maltese men.

These were John Zammit, aged 23, Victorio Galeo, aged 23, George Duca, aged 26, and Carmel Carnaria, aged 22. The ship's manifest says that the passengers embarked at Antwerp. How they came to Antwerp is not known, unless they were part of the crew. Also the name Galeo could be a misspelling of Galea, and Canaria for Caruana.

I am doing some research on early migration to the United States at the beginning of the last century. If any reader has more information about these men, I would be most obliged to hear from them.
