So Joe Zammit (The Sunday Times, May 27) thinks divorce is evil. I can assure Mr Zammit that the greater evil is living with an abusive husband. Until he has suffered mental and physical cruelty he is in no position to condemn those who escape such a marriage as evil.

Evil is harming the person you stood before God promising to love and honour. Today, no person should feel degraded or afraid in a marriage. If divorce is evil, it is a necessary one. Everyone deserves respect, peace and happiness in their lives.
