Maltese delegates at annual Lasallian school heads' meeting

One hundred and fifty-six delegates from European, Middle East and North African countries including Malta took part in this year's meeting of the European Association of Heads of Lasallian Institutions (ASSEDIL), which was held last month in Padova, Italy.

The Maltese delegation, comprising Bro. David Mizzi fsc, Kenneth Vella, assistant head, De La Salle College senior school, Frank Micallef, assistant head at De La Salle College Junior School and Miriam Zammit head, at Stella Maris College Junior School, took an active part in the workshops which discussed the administration and the challenges of Lasallian schools in the various countries and the meaning today of the terms 'mission' and 'association' of Lasallian schools.

The Maltese delegates had the opportunity to discuss a number of projects that could be carried out in the coming months. Information about these projects will be presented in the official ASSEDIL Website being prepared by Austrian delegate Peter Straut.

They also met ASSEDIL president Sian Grant and other members of the international committee with whom they discussed the work being carried out within ASSEDIL and the new REL (European) district within the International Lasallian Institute.

During one of the final sessions it was decided that next year's meeting would be held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and the 2009 meeting in Gdansk, Poland. The meeting was successfully held in Malta last year.
