The European Institute of Education of Ta' Xbiex has been appointed the local centre of the Institut Universitaire Kurt Bösch (IUKB) of Switzerland.

The Swiss university offers three interdisciplinary Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programmes - business, tourism and banking - that have an interdisciplinary core, so students selecting to major in one of the three subjects will have a solid grounding in the other two.

Antonello Cappitta, EIE director of courses, said the IUKB is recognised both by the Swiss and Maltese governments. "We have letters of recognition from both the Minister of Education of the Canton du Valais, where the IUKB is based, and the Ministry of Education in Malta," he said.

According to Mr Cappitta, there is a lot of local demand for the courses offered by this Swiss university, especially since Switzerland has a lot of knowhow in these three areas.

The IUKB was founded in 1989 and has flourished thanks to the generous donation of Kurt Bösch, partnerships with Swiss and foreign universities, and support from various private bodies, the town of Sion, the Canton of Valais, the Swiss Confederation and the Loterie Romande. It was officially recognised by the Swiss Government as a University Institute in 1992.

EIE is licensed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment as a tertiary level institution. For more information visit the Website on www.iukbmalta.com, call 2133-2804 or write to info@iukbmalta.com.
