May I congratulate the passengers of the unfortunate Air Malta flight from London that underwent an enforced overnight stay in Paris for getting a communication from Air Malta as well as free flights in compensation. My comparatively unimportant communications with our national carrier have remain unanswered nearly for five months.
On January 4 I wrote to the chairman querying the special offers being made at that time for international flights and the conflicting advice and terms of availability. On March 15, as requested by telephone, I sent a copy of the letter to Air Malta customer care. A one way connection was initiated. On March 23, hearing nothing, I e-mailed the message again to customer care. And again on April 2. And on April 30. So on May 4, I wrote again to the chairman enclosing a copy of the original. The result? Zero.
In these go-ahead days with increased airline competition it seems a shame that those of us who still fly the flag should be so steadfastly ignored. Maybe my correspondence should have been directed through the illustrious Adrian Muscat Inglott whose consumer affairs page enlivens The Sunday Times as he tackles the average man's (and woman's) grievances. He may not thank me for this, but I would advise everyone else to channel their Air Malta mail through him.
