Caring for 14 animals at home is not enough for German student Tonja Sarah Oberlander (in picture with Alfred Fenech) from the outskirts of Munich.
In Malta on a study visit, Ms Oberlander will be taking with her another two puppies - crossbreds Bootch and Nobby - which she got from the Abandoned Animals Association's sanctuary in Luqa.
Ms Oberlanded, 24, is studying to become a teacher of English language and geography, and came to Malta earlier this month for an eight-week study visit here. Part of her study course was to spend time in an English speaking country and she chose Malta.
Being an animal lover, she also decided to devote time to taking care of the dogs at the sanctuary.
Ms Oberlander will be making a report to her university about her experience with the Maltese and the work she did during her stay.
"I simply love animals," Ms Oberlander said. At home she has four dogs and four cats, three rabbits, two guinea pigs and a hampster. Keeping so many pets at home does not pose a problem.
She lives in a house adjacent to that of her parents who are also animal lovers and, in fact have seven cats and one dog.
The AAA'a Alfred Fenech is assisting Ms Oberlander.
