The Union Haddiema Maghqudin said yesterday it will step up its industrial action at Maltapost from tomorrow in view of the management's failure to agree to a new collective agreement.

It did not say what action it was contemplating.

The UHM's public entities section said it still had not received any proposals from the management over a financial package for the new collective agreement.

Last Friday, the UHM called a strike at Maltapost after a deadlock in negotiations over the collective agreement which expired at the end of 2004.

A UHM spokesman had said that although an agreement had been reached on almost all counts, the management had come "empty handed" when it came to finance.
