A Savina outlet has been opened in the tourist reception area of the Santa Marija Cathedral in Victoria.

Savina was launched to promote products based on traditional Gozitan and Maltese recipes. These premier products range from tomato-based delicacies to liqueurs, from hand-made scented candles to lace and wooden crafts.

These products are also available from the Savina Creativity Centre in Xewkija, next to the Magro Brothers factory. At the centre, visitors can watch many of the products being made, enjoy a multimedia presentation on the Savina brand and sample many of the products.

"Once the Savina range had grown enough we began to look for suitable outlets that would complement their quality and style," managing director John Magro said.

"The cathedral's Visitor Centre is ideal. Situated under the church and surrounded by Roman walls and foundations from the Hal Saflieni period it is the perfect location for our high quality products. We were also very impressed by the innovative audio guide service being offered."

Last year in a partnership with Explore Malta Ltd, the cathedral introduced the very latest audio guides. Available in five languages (Maltese, English, Italian, French and German) these have proven to be extremely popular with the tourists. The audio guide covers the cathedral, the cathedral museum and various points around the citadel.

Savina is currently evaluating a number of other venues in Malta and Gozo for its products.
