The Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises - GRTU yesterday ordered hauliers to ignore "any imposition" that the new port operator VGT tried to force on them.

The GRTU said the position of hauliers had been clearly negotiated with the EU and they should not accept anything other than what had been agreed.

The GRTU did not specify what the issue was about, but sources said VGT had asked hauliers to pay a Lm2 fee so that they would be granted a pass that would give them access to areas within the port.
