Monument to Kalcidon Agius

The Malta Labour Party Naxxar club has decided to erect a monument to the late Kalcidon Aguis.

Mr Agius, who was born and bred in Naxxar, is well known for his days spent as a member of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives. In the local community of Naxxar he was also known as a playwright. Some of his works were broadcast on national television.

Mr Aguis was first elected as a member of Parliament in the 1950s and served as Speaker of the House in the 1980s. He also served as acting president and was honoured with the Gieh Ir-Repubblika and Gieh in-Naxxar. A commission composed of the main societies in Naxxar has been formed to organise a monument for Mr Agius. All donations are highly appreciated. For this purpose a bank account (No. 40016102046) has been opened with Bank of Valletta in Naxxar.
