The Biological Conservation Research Foundation (Bicref) has produced a new one-hour documentary about marine biodiversity, on the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity held worldwide last week.

The documentary focuses mainly on dolphins, whales and turtles, aiming to raise awareness about vulnerable fauna and habitats that need urgent conservation.

The initiative was supported by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, which has aided the distribution of six Bicref documentaries discussing the problems of climate and environmental change and the effects on all living beings. Bicref said it will be showing and distributing its documentaries to higher secondary education entities including MCAST, private, Church and state sixth forms.

Copies will also be forwarded to the University of Malta library for education and research.

These documentaries were produced with the assistance of the finance and tourism ministries. They have been aired on the three main local television channels as well as on an Australian channel, constantly receiving excellent appraisals for the production, Bicref said.
