Regarding the paintings at Mater Dei Hospital, a future report will look like this: "Andrea Galea, 52, of Hal-Pepprina, yesterday refused the bed allocated to her at Mater Dei Hospital.
Mrs Galea, who is to undergo a minor operation, said that she was doing so because of the painting that was hanging over the bed.
"You see," Mrs Galea said, "the painting is a copy of van Gogh's 'Sunflowers'. Firstly, van Gogh's paintings make me nervous; and secondly, I'm more in the Fragonard style myself. Imagine me, coming to my senses after the operation, to find van Gogh hallucinating over me."
In the end Mrs Galea's anguish was appeased with another painting: 'The Gleaners' by Millet. "At least it's peaceful," the satisfied Mrs Galea said.
