The Labour Party's spokesman for IT, Leo Brincat and Carmelo Abela, party spokesman for education, said they were satisfied their party's vision on ICT was being adopted by the government.
The MLP's proposals for the setting up of a new faculty for ICT at the university and the holding of a skills gap analysis were just two examples that gave the lie to claims by the Nationalist Party that the MLP was devoid of ideas. Rather, the MLP has updated its policy in various sectors to ensure a fresh start.
The Ministry for IT, reacted saying the MLP was not in a position to take credit for anything happening at the university in regard to IT.
This was because, for many years, the MLP's agenda was that scientific research and learning, particularly IT, did not have a place in the university.
The ministry said the skill gap analysis had already been commissioned when the MLP made its proposal.
