The minister also spoke about a direct debit system, whereby clients of the two corporations who have accounts with the main banks can have their bills paid by direct debit. Clients opting for this scheme would save Lm1 on each bill.

Moreover, if within 30 days of payment, clients object to a bill, they can request that the transaction be withdrawn. The minister said he wanted to see an effort by the two corporations to become more client oriented. While the quality of the service was technically good, the customer oriented service culture needs to improve, he said.
