European Commission President José Manuel Barroso is expected in Malta on June 14 and 15 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. He is expected to address Parliament and discuss the European Constitution, which will be under the spotlight at the EU summit the following week.
It will be Mr Barroso's second visit to Malta following a flying visit in October 2004, when he was president-in-waiting. That day, however, talks between Mr Barroso and the Prime Minister were delayed after Dr Gonzi had to unexpectedly fly from Tripoli to Misurata to meet Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
