Growth in telecoms across the board

Subscriptions to all forms of communication technology increased in the last quarter, the National Statistics Office said.

The number of mobile telephone subscriptions reached 344,205, which roughly translates to 85.8 per cent of the population. The internet subscription index rose by 0.8 per cent to 287.3 from 284.9 at the end of March, last year. The cable and digital subscriptions index increased by 12.9 per cent compared to the same period, reaching 28.7 per 100 of the population.

A rise has even been seen in postal traffic, to around 12.6 million items from 11.2 million in the corresponding period last year.
