Migration to Mater Dei Hospital cannot start before discussions are concluded, the Medical Association of Malta has insisted.
Noting with satisfaction the final phases of construction work, the association said it was essential that changes were made to working conditions as well as to certain work practices to enable the new hospital to function properly.
But, unfortunately, in spite of MAM's repeated efforts, discussions with it on such changes started very late and were progressing extremely slowly, the association said.
"The hospital needs doctors and it would certainly be a pity if Mater Dei Hospital will not be able to start functioning because these discussions are not concluded," it added.
MAM, therefore called on all concerned to make an extra effort to conclude the negotiations without further delay so that the hospital can open in July as planned.
