Australia scrumhalf George Gregan has lost the Wallabies captaincy for the 2007 international season.

Stirling Mortlock and Phil Waugh were named yesterday as co-captains of a 30-man Australian squad that will play seven tests in the lead-up to this year's World Cup.

Gregan, who is the world's most capped player, was included in the squad but not as skipper.

The 34-year-old, who has captained Australia since John Eales retired in 2001, plans to quit the international scene after the World Cup.
