No jazz at the festival

I've just seen the line-up for this year's Malta Jazz Festival. What a disgrace! I can't believe how the government is ready to financially support rubbish like Malta's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest while tightening its pockets when it comes to the Malta Jazz festival.

NnG Promotions are obviously doing this for the money and not to promote jazz in Malta.

But it is the Malta Council for Culture and Arts that should really be ashamed of themselves. These people are being paid by taxpayers to promote culture and art in Malta and they have managed to turn what was once a truly culturally significant event into a money-making event showcasing tribute bands of expired acts and third class pop bands.

The organisers of this festival should at least have the decency to remove the word "Jazz" from the festival's name and just admit that they are not ready to support a jazz festival in Malta.
