Curlin edges Street Sense

Curlin ruined the Triple Crown dreams of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense by winning the $1 million Preakness Stakes in a dramatic stretch-run duel in Baltimora on Saturday.

The thrilling photo finish was reminiscent of the Sunday Silence-Easy Goer clash in the 1989 Preakness.

Curlin's winning time of 1:53 2/5 for a mile-and-three-sixteenths over a fast track equalled the Preakness record of Tank's Prospect in 1985 and Louis Quatorze in 1996.

The final race in the Triple Crown series will be the Belmont Stakes in New York on June 9.
