Let them have it. With the effort, TV programmes, money, high hopes, speculation and buzz, we can organise ten shows from May to October every year in Malta which should be an attraction for all Maltese and tourists alike. Then we can also have 30 Xarabank programmes (three for each festival to deeply analyse the merits and pitfalls). In addition to all this, the money will remain circulating among friends of friends, pumping the economy and the tax revenue.
President George W. Bush - get out of Iraq. Although the Americans believe 'In God We Trust', you cannot take the role of God and continue to believe that what you did was right. No, George, it is totally wrong and you had it wrong from the beginning when you misled your own people and the international community by making them believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction when you spent billions of dollars and were unable to find one piece of evidence.
Let the Iraqi people decide their own destiny. You have been wrong from day one, you have been stubborn, and you have made Iraq another Vietnam. Get out now.
The people of Israel: you need to understand that there is nothing more important than peace and the way forward is to respect the resolutions of the United Nations and get out of all occupied land in order for the Palestinians to establish their own state. This conflict has dragged on for more than enough and both sides need to make a fresh resolution to achieve peace that is so much required and loved by both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.
Once again, President Bush, get out of Afghanistan. Your military campaign has only led to more lost lives and there seems to be no progress at all. By appointing Hamid Karzai president, who happens to be a quasi-American citizen, there has been very little political, economic and social development.
Warlords are roaming everywhere, security is non-existent, and opium production is at record highs. One wonders who is profiting from this opium production and whether there is a situation (similar to what happened in Latin America) where the US Army is transporting the product to world drugs markets. The little progress we read about is carried out through civil organisations that thrive on donations.
