Now in its ninth year of operations in Malta, Crimsonwing has established itself as a recognised, respected name within the ICT community.

As a solutions and services company, it has developed a reputation for the successful delivery of challenging projects. A staff of 115 is based throughout Malta's solutions centre and also in Crimsonwing's offices in the UK and the Netherlands.

The year 2006 was particularly exciting and challenging for Crimsonwing. A number of new initiatives were embarked on and partnerships were made.

The early part of the year opened with Crimsonwing being hailed as Winner of the Malta National ICT Achievement Award (NICTAA) in the eBusiness Solution category for Immedia.

This was a sophisticated e-procurement solution, which had been developed for Williams Lea - a leading UK business process outsourcing company.

Immedia had also previously won the prestigious eOscar at CeBIT as well as the UK Channel Network Award in the Reseller category.

This was followed by a restructuring exercise in which Crimsonwing repositioned itself with its three main offerings: ebusiness, CRM/ERP and Custom Applications.

Intershop's high-powered e-Commerce solution Enfinity enabled Crimsonwing to offer a modular way of transforming customer and supplier relationships via the Web.

Hugely successful and often with award-winning projects, Crimsonwing's main e-business clients have included Ideal Hardware, IDIS Pharmaceuticals, Williams Lea and Nedis.

As an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) specialist, Crimsonwing is well placed to deliver the productivity and competitiveness gains that properly integrated systems can bring.

As a Microsoft Certified Business Partner that specialises in Microsoft Dynamics Ax and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Crimsonwing boasts a large, experienced pool of MS Dynamics resources whose vertical focus lies within retail and distribution.

The ERP and CRM infrastructure they deliver feeds directly into business process improvements, boosting operational efficiencies and ensuring a clear competitive edge. MS clients have included Touchstone and Fraser Eagle.

With an emphasis on Custom Applications, Crimsonwing continues to play the nearshore card, selling its value proposition. Offering high quality levels and excellent value for money, Crimsonwing develops and delivers projects via its nearshore delivery model.

Long-standing clients include Morrisons (ex-Safeway) as well as Sun Life of Canada, Sunlight and Toyota UK.

Hand in hand with this was the sterling work carried out by the different Crimsonwing teams on the Morrisons, Fraser Eagle and Lloyd's Register accounts. For UK retailing giant Morrisons, Crimsonwing developed and launched an online application known as MSD.

This has been instrumental in allowing retailers and suppliers to share applications and information, enhancing collaboration and improving service levels all round.

With Fraser Eagle, Crimsonwing began to work on a six-year outsourcing contract. Apart from support, this also included a complete replacement of their operational system based on the .NET Architecture, known as Ferrit Replacement Project (FRP) and now renamed Beagle.

This was complemented by a complete replacement of their administrative systems with the implementation of a number of MS Dynamics AX modules, which had to be integrated with Fraser Eagle's new line of business applications.

Incredibly complex, the new system has provided Fraser Eagle with a competitive edge, streamlining operations and increasing efficiency.

For the independent risk management organisation Lloyd's Register, Crimsonwing was engaged to develop a new business solution known as Hull Integrity. This new service allows owners and operators to better manage their vessels' hull structural integrity by carrying out hull inspections in a systematic and auditable manner.

In a move away from tedious routine inspections, a ship's crew can now move towards something that is quicker, simpler and more auditable.

September saw a small volunteer team from Crimsonwing working hand in hand with FITA (Foundation for IT Accessibility) to develop Nitghallem bil-Kompjuter - new educational software covering basic literacy and numeracy in Maltese.

Tested for use by both intellectually and visually impaired people, it has since been launched - to much acclaim. This development forms part of a collaborative effort on Crimsonwing's part to provide assistance and expertise in support of FITA.

This was followed by the appointment of three new directors to Crimsonwing - all of whom have been working with Crimsonwing for a number of years. Pierre Zammit, James Bonello and Claire Nicholson have been appointed operations, managing and finance directors, respectively.

They have more involvement on a business level and now play an active role in the company's strategic direction.

Crimsonwing's Dutch office has gone from strength to strength and has had yet another successful year, exceeding predictions.

New clients and projects seem to be increasingly those with e-Business requirements and include Nedis, the European market leader in consumer electronics and accessories, ECI, a subsidiary of the Bertelsmann group, who use e-Commerce as a strategic marketing tool for a multi-channel approach to sell media products like books, CDs and DVDs to the market and Three Ships for whom some educational software that manages e-learning was developed.

Used by over 100 vocational schools in Holland, Three Ships has expanded its project base by encouraging the participation of more schools and other organisations that can benefit from e learning.

The close of the year brought with it Crimsonwing's accreditation as a Microsoft Gold Partner as specialists in Microsoft Dynamics Ax. Their extensive experience with working in Europe has allowed them to grow their pool of experienced Ax resources, who have tackled one of the largest Ax implementations in the UK.
