Calamatta Cuschieri - built on integrity

Calamatta Cuschieri & Co. Ltd was founded by Alfred Calamatta in 1972 when he took over Edwards Chandler Wagstaffe & Co.'s Malta office and formed A. Calamatta & Partners.

Mr Calamatta started his career with Barclays Bank DCO in 1955, but was quick to recognise the potential in stockbroking and joined Edwards Chandler Wagstaffe & Co. in 1967, where he initially served as a 'Blue Button' on the floor of the London Stock Exchange.

A. Calamatta & Partners provided investment consultancy services in the Maltese islands before the regularisation of the financial market, and become one of the pioneers in local investment consultancy and stockbroking services.

Together with the advent of the Malta Stock Exchange in 1992, Mr Calamatta reorganised his investment company and went into partnership with Alexander Cuschieri to form Calamatta Cuschieri & Co. Ltd. and Calamatta Stockbrokers Ltd, which incorporated the business of A. Calamatta & Partners. Calamatta Stockbrokers Ltd was a founder member of the Malta Stock Exchange, catering for investments in the local market of stocks and shares as well as collective investment schemes.

Calamatta Cuschieri & Co. Ltd was incorporated in 1992 to provide financial and investment consultancy services to both institutional and private investors. After trading under two separate names for over a decade, in 2003 these companies were consolidated under one name which remains Calamatta Cuschieri & Co. Ltd and is a wholly independent company owned by its directors.

Calamatta Cuschieri & Co. Ltd has built a large client base which the firm attributes to a satisfied clientele - the best form of advertising for the firm. The company's tremendous growth from a small family business with four employees in the early Nineties to a firm employing 25 can only be attributed to its excellent service and professionalism.

Despite this growth the values of trust, integrity and honesty have never been forgotten and to this very day are the codes of ethics for all the team.
