PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END
action
Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) ally with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones's locker - while the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading Company, wreaks havoc across the Seven Seas.
Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final, titanic battle - as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving Pirate way, hangs in the balance.
CATCH A FIRE
drama
Times are tough for black people in Apartheid-era South Africa, but Patrick Chamusso (Derek Luke) has his home, his family and a good job at the Secunda Oil Refinery. He wants no part of the anti-Apartheid movement, choosing instead to lead a simple life. On a day when Patrick has a day off work to attend a football game and to secretly visit the son he fathered with his ex-girlfriend, terrorists attempt to blow up the Oil Refinery.
Nic Vos (Tim Robbins), a white policeman striving to maintain order in the face of increasing unrest, arrests Patrick and two black co-workers. During the interrogation, he presents himself as someone who doesn't use the harsh methods of his fellow cops. To protect his marriage, Patrick hides the alibi that could save him, until his wife Precious is also arrested and beaten.
Patrick emerges a changed man, one who struggles to find his role in the turmoil that threatens his country. Based on a true story.
AMAZING GRACE
drama
The film is the inspiring story of how one man's passion and perseverance changed the world. Based on the true life story of William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd), a leader of the British abolition movement, it chronicles his epic struggle to pass a law to end the slave trade in the late 18th century. Along the way, Wilberforce meets intense opposition from members of Parliament who feel the slave trade is tied to the stability of the British Empire. Several friends, including Wilberforce's minister, John Newton (Albert Finney), a reformed slave ship captain who penned the beloved hymn Amazing Grace, urge him to see the cause through.
