The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has registered an industrial dispute with Maltapost after the two sides failed to reach agreement over a new collective agreement for company employees.

The UHM said that Maltapost's management was reluctant to conclude a new collective agreement and the union had warned that in the absence of an agreement yesterday it would register an industrial dispute. It said that the company's collective agreement had expired three years ago.

When contacted, Maltapost CEO Joe Gafà choose not to comment at this stage.

The UHM and Maltapost are also in a dispute over the delivery of bulk mail with the union ordering postal workers not to process such mail, whose weight it considers detrimental to their health.
