The Computer Society of Malta (CSM) has announced the finalists of this year's ICT Malta Awards. The finals will be held on Thursday, May 24.

i-Tech journalist Martin Debattista is a finalist in the information society award category.

The CSM received a record 40 nominations for the various awards.

"The adjudicating committee had a difficult task to draw up a shortlist of each category," a society statement said.

This is the list of finalists:

IT Company Award:
Uniblue, Ascent Software, Engineering for Science and Industry, Datatrak

IT Project Award:
Ascent software, 6pm, Computime

IT Product Award:
CyberPass, Uniblue, Shireburn, Datatrak

IT Education Award:
MIIIT, St Michael's Foundation, TCTC

e-Business Solution Award:
ICON Studios, MediaCatalyst, MIIIT/MEPA

Microenterprise Award:
RizzoFarrugia Stockbrokers Ltd, Techgenix, Webgenix

Information Society Award:
TCTC, Martin Debattista, MIIIT

The adjudication team decided to give a special award to MediaCatalyst for its work on Mbuzz, due to the challenging objectives of the project and extensive use of cutting edge technology.

On the prize-giving night, financial awards are also going to be presented to four students at the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology who are following courses in IT.
