Maltese students Martina Gerada and Mahira Sheikh will work in Africa for three months together with other European students.
The experience is being offered by the local NGO Third World Group, which has joined the activities of the Global Education Network for Young Europeans (GLEN), a network of 12 NGOs from the EU engaged in development issues and cooperation policies.
The Maltese participants have already been in Germany for a training seminar. In June, they will be attending a second training seminar in the Czech Republic. This in-depth preparation will help them to prepare for their project stay in Africa.
After their return, the participants will be assisted by GLEN to share their experience and raise awareness about global development issues in Malta.
Third World Group is planning to apply for other GLEN projects next year and anyone interested in participating can send an e-mail to info@thirdworldgroup.org.
